Songbird es un reproductor de audio libre. Utiliza la plataforma XULRunner de Mozilla, la cual hace que sea multiplataforma. Intenta combinar la web con la reproducción multimedia, y ser una alternativa libre al iTunes.
Características
- Es software libre, de código abierto y gratuito. Está publicado bajo la licencia GPL.
- Es multiplataforma, teniendo versiones para los sistemas operativos GNU/Linux, Windows y Mac OS X.
- Utiliza la plataforma XULRunner de Mozilla.
- Permite el uso de complementos: extensiones y temas visuales (llamados plumas).
- Implementa el plugin del cliente VLC para la reproducción multimedia.
- Utiliza SQLite como motor de almacenamiento para la biblioteca multimedia.
- Es compatible, entre otros, con los siguientes formatos multimedia:
- Ogg Vorbis (.ogg)
- MP3 (.mp3)
- FLAC (.flac)
- Windows Media Audio (.wma)
